You have seen Digistore24 at the bottom of a supplement or online-course checkout, or an affiliate community pointed you at it, and you want the plain answer before you commit: is it real, and will you regret it? Real, clearly. Digistore24 has processed more than 3 billion euros in sales, sold over 5.5 million products in the last year alone, and has run as a reseller since 2012. The regret question is the interesting one, and it depends entirely on what you expected it to be. Europe's largest affiliate marketplace turns out to be a more capable platform than the label suggests. It is still not a checkout you own outright.
Is Digistore24 real, or too good to be true?
It is one of the most established sales platforms in Europe. It has run as a reseller since 2012, lists more than 8,500 offers across 44 niches, and connects vendors with over 3,000 vetted active affiliates. On reputation, it carries a Trustpilot score reported at 4.6 from more than 12,000 reviews and a 4.7 on Capterra. Long-term reviewers keep returning to reliability, not features: one Capterra user simply says they "got paid out always in time," and an independent review credits the platform with having "paid out over 500 million euros in affiliate commissions since 2012." It pays multiple times a week once you are doing volume. As reseller of record it guarantees the payout, and for a platform that holds your money before it reaches you, that is the thing that matters most.
What Digistore24 actually is
Digistore24 is two things in one. It is an affiliate marketplace, where vendors list a direct-response offer and vetted affiliates pick it up and promote it for a commission. And it is a reseller, or merchant of record: Digistore24 buys the product from you and resells it to the buyer, which makes it the buyer's legal contract partner rather than you. In that role it runs the order form, processes the payment, calculates and remits VAT and sales tax, pays your affiliates, and handles the invoices, refunds and chargebacks.
Where it goes further than a bare marketplace is the conversion layer. Digistore24 gives you a customizable cart builder with its own conversion widgets, one-click and multi-upsells on a single upsell page, and a split-testing tool it calls the Conversion Cockpit for products, prices, sales pages, order forms and upsells. So unlike a network that only lists offers, you can build and tune the order form and the upsell flow inside the platform. What it does not change is where the customer relationship and the money ultimately sit, and that is the part worth understanding before you sign up.
How it works, and what it costs you
The pricing is unusual because Digistore24 earns as the reseller, not as a subscription you rent. Signing up is free, affiliates pay nothing, and there is no monthly fee. Vendors pay only when they sell. On the Ireland reseller, the standard cut is 7.9% + 1 euro per transaction, and it rises to 9.9% + 1 euro if your chargebacks pass 1% of sales. On top of the per-sale cut sit smaller fees: a refund costs 0.75 euros up to 10 euros or 1 euro above, a chargeback costs 40 euros with chargeback prevention or 50 euros without, and payouts cost 2.50 euros by SEPA, 2.50 euros to a PayPal account in Ireland, 20 euros to PayPal outside Ireland, or 40 euros by international bank transfer.
Two things are easy to miss. First, the fee schedule, the currency and even some features depend on which reseller entity you are on. Digistore24 runs separate US, German, UK and Irish resellers, and subscriptions and installment payments, for one, are only available on the US reseller. Second, affiliate commissions come out on top of the platform cut, so model your margin with both in from the start.
Where it fits, and where it will frustrate you
Digistore24 earns its place for a specific seller: a direct-response digital or supplement offer aimed at a European or global audience, sold with an affiliate network and the tax, billing and payout work handled. Supplements and other physical direct-response products are explicitly supported, its end-customer reputation is built to keep chargebacks and cancellations low, and it lets you sell internationally without registering a business in each country. If your plan is to recruit affiliates to sell for you while a reseller carries the compliance, few platforms in Europe do it as completely.
It will frustrate you if you want to own your checkout and your customer. Two things matter for that reader. Because Digistore24 is the reseller, it is the single processor on every sale, so you cannot route your own volume across several merchant accounts the way a high-volume or high-risk media buyer does to spread risk. And because it is the legal seller, the buyer is contractually Digistore24's customer: you must keep Digistore24 in customer communications, and the receipt and the refund run through the platform. Its split testing is real, but it works at the level of products, pages, order forms and upsells rather than rotating whole checkout variants under one ad link. None of this is a flaw. It is what a reseller-plus-marketplace is, and it is a different job from a checkout you build and route yourself.
The catches worth knowing before you sign up
Three things trip people up. The first is that buyer disputes attach to the platform. Because Digistore24 is the seller of record, end-customer complaints about billing and unauthorized recurring charges land on its name on public complaint boards, and its own systems resolve them rather than yours. That protects you from the admin, but it means the customer experience is partly out of your hands.
The second is the dashboard. Reviewers consistently describe a "steep learning curve," an interface that feels less polished than course platforms like Kajabi or Podia, and confusion configuring upsells and switching between the vendor and affiliate views. Budget time to learn it before you scale on it.
The third is cost creep. The 7.9% + 1 euro has no monthly attached, but between the higher chargeback-tier rate, the refund and payout fees, and affiliate commissions on top, high-volume sellers feel the take. Price your offer with all of it built in, and keep chargebacks under 1% to stay on the standard rate.
So, will you regret it?
Not if you buy it for what it is. As a European reseller and affiliate marketplace with real conversion tooling on top, it is proven, it pays, and it takes nothing until you sell. You will regret it if you signed up expecting a checkout you own and can route across your own merchant accounts, because Digistore24 is the reseller and the single processor, and the customer is contractually theirs. Read the fee schedule for your reseller entity, price the cut and the affiliate commission into your offer, and treat it as your reseller, affiliate and billing layer rather than a checkout you control end to end. On those terms, it does exactly what it says.
